The Botanical Art Society of New Zealand and the Friends of Auckland Botanic Gardens........

are delighted to announce that following the huge success of the Botanical Art Worldwide exhibition in 2018, there will be another Botanical Art Worldwide in 2025.

We wish to showcase contemporary botanical art in all 2D media, and follow on from the previous highly successful 'Ngāi Tipu Taketake - Indigenous Flora' exhibition.

All botanical artists living in New Zealand and New Zealand citizens living overseas are eligible to take part.

The theme for this exhibition is ‘Crop Diversity’, which includes heritage crops, wild crop relatives and ancient crops.

This juried exhibition will showcase the best of New Zealand's botanical artists with artwork true to botanical art and illustration conventions, while also celebrating contemporary botanical art in all 2D mediums.

Although the exhibition is a couple of years away, we appreciate that botanical artists need at least one growing season to research their chosen plant, hence the early announcement.

Expressions of interest will be taken from now onwards - we wish to know what plant/plants you are considering to study. This is so if we find that you have chosen to portray a plant species that is very popular, we will contact you so you can choose another.

We will be asking for entries for selection from early 2024 in readiness for selection November 2024.

The exhibition will open April 2025 in Auckland and although venues are still to be confirmed, it is anticipated that the exhibition will travel round the North and South Islands over the next few months.
