The Job

The Rick Rudd Foundation, which operates as Quartz Museum of Studio Ceramics, is looking for an experienced fundraiser who has a proven track record in fundraising and grant applications. Experience in the arts sector is preferred. This is a one-year part-time independent contract position.

About Us

Quartz is Aotearoa/New Zealand’s only museum dedicated to the promotion of studio ceramics. The museum is one of Whanganui’s most acclaimed tourist attractions with approximately 4500 items in the collection, a significant online database, and revolving curated exhibitions. Established through the Rick Rudd Foundation, Quartz is an independent museum committed to showcasing the cultural significance of ceramics in this country.

The role

Reporting to the director of the museum, your focus will be to develop and implement strategies to maximise sustainable fundraising revenue. Your responsibility will be to develop and manage the delivery of relevant and future focussed fundraising strategies that increase awareness of and engagement with our vision, strategy and goals and drive philanthropic revenue. This includes the development and implementation of robust fundraising plans to meet targets and support our strategy, as well as a funding calendar.

There is plenty of opportunity to make your mark in this role. We are looking for someone who is experienced and can demonstrate their success within the arts sector. You will be developing and seeking new opportunities in corporate partnerships, philanthropy, and major gifts.

You will need to be an excellent connector and be able to build relationships, audience offerings and experiences. Externally you will need to have great relationships with grant funders, donors and partners. You will have networks with others in the sector in similar roles to share best practice.

Although it is not necessary to live in Whanganui, a thorough understanding of the Museum is essential.

The skills and experience necessary for the role

  • You’re a proven fundraiser with wide experience including strategy development and the delivery of fundraising activities.
  • You can craft persuasive cases for support that will be used to enhance the vision of the organisation and leverage the activities of the Museum.
  • You will have great connections and be adept at developing relationships within the required communities..

If you are interested in this position, please submit your CV, and a cover letter and send to adc.quartzmuseum@gmail.com. For further information on the role please contact Andrea du Chatenier adc.quartzmuseum@gmail.com. Applications will be shortlisted as they come in.
