Page Galleries is looking for a Gallery Manager to join our small and busy team!
Page Galleries is an established commercial art gallery in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, representing contemporary artists from Aotearoa alongside several artist estates.
We are searching for a qualified arts professional with minimum three years’ experience in the visual arts sector with a solid knowledge of contemporary art from Aotearoa, a commitment to the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an understanding and appreciation of te ao Māori. This is an exciting and varied role within a dynamic team committed to promoting artists from Aotearoa.
The Gallery Manager oversees day-to-day operations, works closely with the director to develop our exhibition programme, and leads all gallery communications.
This role requires excellent collaboration and creative thinking and a proven ability to multitask to meet numerous deadlines, along with a capacity to take ownership of projects with accuracy, care, and attention to detail.
The successful candidate will be a brilliant communicator, skilled at cultivating good relationships with artists, clients, public institutions, and the wider community. They will ideally have front of house and / or sales experience, be adept at working with databases, websites, online marketing tools, and have a head for numbers and logistics.
The Gallery Manager is responsible for writing exhibition text, artist profiles, as well as pitching and writing editorial and social media copy, so an affinity with words is essential.
A knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign would also be advantageous.
This is a full-time position with regular hours Tues-Fri 9am – 5pm and Sat 10am – 4pm along with monthly exhibition openings.
We are hoping to appoint someone to start in this role at the end of November 2025.
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
To apply please email lily@pagegalleries.co.nz with Gallery Manager in the subject line and attach a cover letter, cv, along with a short sample of your writing.
Applications close Wednesday 29 October, 5pm.
