About the organisation
Māpura Studios is a leading provider of art experience and art therapy, offering access to activities and events for disabled and marginalised communities in Aotearoa New Zealand. Governed by the Panacea Arts Charitable Trust, it provides a creative space for the fine arts, dance, music and creative writing for a diverse range of people who may experience barriers to participation.
Based in Morningside and operating throughout the Auckland region it also offers online sessions across the motu. It is a special place, an inclusive community with the kaupapa “Changing lives through creativity”. Māpura Studios’ lively exhibition and events calendar provides opportunities for artists to showcase their work in a number of public spaces and community galleries.
About the role
A key member of the team, the General Manager leads the day-to-day operations, supported by an admin team of three and works with the wider team of tutors and volunteers, to deliver high quality programmes and activities.
Working with the Board of Trustees in developing a long-term strategy, maintaining financial control, and securing funding, is critical to the development of the organisation.

We are seeking an innovative leader who is passionate about being part of an environment that is making a genuine and profound difference in people’s lives.
With demonstrated people management, and fundraising skills honed within the charity sector you are keen to utilise this experience stepping into a leadership role.
Ideally tertiary qualified in a business-related discipline, your collaborative style allows you to engage with people at all levels, to build strong and positive relationships with stakeholders. An effective communicator you can influence when it counts, to realise the full potential of your team, volunteers and the organisation. Business savvy and solutions focused you keep the organisations values at the forefront of leadership – demonstrating respect for diversity and difference.
You have a commitment to practising and learning from tikanga Māori and te ao Māori more generally.
