Head of Development, Sarjeant Gallery
Permanent, full-time
Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery, established in 1919, is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s oldest purpose-built galleries. Following an award-winning redevelopment, it reopened in November 2024 and now stands as one of the country’s largest regional arts institutions. Located in historic Pukenamu Queen’s Park, Whanganui, the gallery houses a nationally significant collection, diverse exhibitions, and the renowned Tylee Artist Residency programme.
We are seeking a dynamic Head of Development to lead fundraising and philanthropic programmes that will secure the gallery’s future. The successful candidate will be passionate about art and events, hold a relevant bachelor’s degree, and demonstrate proven success in donor engagement and fundraising. You will be motivated, able to work independently toward ambitious goals, and a natural networker who thrives on building strong relationships.
Reporting to the Director, the Head of Development will oversee philanthropic initiatives, nurture existing sponsors and supporters, identify new partnerships, and ensure effective donor stewardship. Working closely with the Sarjeant Gallery Trust, you will play a pivotal role in sustaining the gallery’s growth and impact.
