Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School is inviting applications for Kaitiaki Pātaka Kōrero, Learning Centre Coordinator.  This is a fractional role 0.5 FTE, for a fixed term period of 10 months.

 

This student-focused role is at the heart of our Learning Centre. They will lead and coordinate the delivery of inclusive learning support services enhancing student success within our kura.

 

This fixed term role is required to establish, roll out and embed engagement strategies for our tauira during the initial implementation phase of a new initiative, our Learning Centre. The role is fixed for 10 months because the long term operational requirements and ongoing funding for the Learning Centre are not yet confirmed, and the need for the role beyond the establishment phase will be reviewed at the end of the fixed term.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Our Kaitiaki Pātaka Kōrero, Learning Centre Coordinator (0.5 fixed term) has the dual role of providing a professional library service for all kaimahi and tauira, as well as coordinating the resources, services and activities of the Student Learning Centre, as a hub for tauira learning. The role will include collaboration with academic kaimahi and tauira to support diverse learning needs and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Organisational skills

  • Ability to plan, organise and manage multiple tasks effectively
    Interpersonal and Communication Skills
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with kaimahi and tauira
    Knowledge of Learning Support
  • Some understanding of learning theories, pedagogical knowledge, and evidence-based strategies to support diverse learners 
    Administration Skills
  • Proficiency in establishing and maintaining accurate record-keeping systems 
  • Ability to manage and/or support - Cataloguing, Archiving 
  • Process Management 
  • Proficiency in the use of digital platforms (eg. library catalogue, Canvas, etc) 
     

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Five+ years experience as a librarian and/or role in learning hub environment
  • General competency with office products, library management software
  • Some experience in providing student learning support services 
    Desirable
  • An interest in education and youth
  • Experience in teaching library information retrieval skills

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree (minimum) 
  • A professional library qualification is desirable

Remuneration

  • Salary Band B of Non-teaching staff: 0.5 pro-rated $65,000 to $70,000
  • Onsite parking
