Atamira Dance Company is a platform where Te Ao Māori and dance converge, where creativity brings mātauranga Māori, whakapapa, and stories to life.
Established in 2000, the company is now at the forefront of Māori contemporary dance in Aotearoa | New Zealand. With an outstanding reputation for artistic excellence, nurturing talent, and producing transformative experiences that resonate globally, the company offers a rich and diverse annual programme of performances, workshops, wānanga, classes, and community activities. Atamira regularly tours within Aotearoa and has also toured internationally to Australia, Noumea, USA, Hawaiʻi, Taiwan, Korea and China.
2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the company and the 2025 programme is led by the newly appointed Kaihautū Bianca Hyslop.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you'll work closely with the Kaihautū to elevate artistry and bring compelling, boundary-pushing performances to life. As the Creative Producer, you'll play a key role in producing groundbreaking Māori contemporary dance projects, creating dynamic experiences that resonate both nationally and internationally.
You’ll thrive in a role that champions the creative journey of our artists, ensuring their voices are heard and our work brought to life on national and global stages. You'll also build connections to raise the profile of Atamira, fostering greater audience engagement and creating space for new opportunities.
ABOUT YOU
This role requires a track record in producing, leadership skills, and a dynamic and proactive approach. Having the following attributes and capabilities will set you up for success in this role:
● Experience producing successful projects and productions, from development and implementation to evaluation.
● A sound understanding of the performing arts sector in Aotearoa and internationally.
● Experience of tour producing and delivery
● Experience of supporting and nurturing artists and creative teams in the development
of new work.
● Experience of negotiating and agreeing contracts with artists, suppliers, collaborators
and a range of partners
● Strong budget and project management skills
● Great team-player
● Good communication and time management skills
● A commitment to tikanga and mātauranga Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and
te reo Māori
