Working closely with the Marketing Manager within the wider Marketing and Ticketing team of six, you’ll drive promotional activity across email, social media, website, and print, support mainstage and venue hirer campaigns, and be the voice behind many of our most visible channels. Your exceptional writing skills, campaign execution know-how, and customer focus will ensure our marketing is as inclusive, diverse and engaging as the theatre we make.

What you’ll do:

Auckland Theatre Company (ATC) delivers a data-driven, best-practice, and industry-leading omni-channel marketing programme, and you will be relied upon to execute this to the highest standard.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that demands attention to detail, exceptional time management, and a solid foundation in campaign delivery, digital communications, and printed content creation. The Marketing Executive will confidently manage multiple projects at once and bring a positive, can-do attitude to any challenge. This is show business — and the show must go on. You will: 

 

  • Craft and deploy compelling eDMs and email automation
  • Write marketing copy across digital, print, and social platforms
  • Coordinate updates across ATC and ASB Waterfront Theatre websites
  • Deliver audience surveys and track campaign performance
  • Support marketing for both ATC productions and ASBWT hirer events

 

Working conditions:

 

  • Full time: 9am to 5:30pm
  • Working locations are flexible based on team requirements.
  • Currently based 3 days/week at ATC Head Office Balmoral and 1 day/week at ASB Waterfront Theatre
  • Fridays work from home

 

This role is suitable for someone who has established themselves as an autonomous and highly efficient Marketing Coordinator or Executive and wants to step up their game in a fast moving and creative work environment that thrives on community and innovation.

 

CONTRIBUTION TO AUCKLAND THEATRE COMPANY

A high level of professionalism is required in this role. A primary responsibility to ATC and its artistic endeavours is essential. This includes but is not limited to:

 

  • Have knowledge of, or a willingness to develop knowledge of, Te Ao Māori/the Māori world view, tikanga Māori/protocols and customs, te reo Māori/Māori language and Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi
  • Maintaining a productive and effective working relationship with all colleagues to promote a cooperative, inclusive and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement
  • Dealing with suppliers, contractors, creative staff and actors in a professional and courteous manner at all times
  • A commitment to learn, grow and faithfully implement inclusive work practices and cultural change to create an open and welcoming workplace for all New Zealanders


SELECTION CRITERIA

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • At least three years of full-time marketing work experience for a consumer-facing brand
  • Have experience in email, website and direct marketing
  • A passion and consumer of performing arts either personally or through previous work experience

 

DESIRABLE

  • Working with Tessitura (Ticketing CRM)
  • Experience working in the performing arts
  • Have used tools such as:

Social Media Scheduling (e.g. Meta Business Suite)

Website CMS (e.g. Umbraco)

CRM & Marketing Automation (e.g. Tessitura)

Email (e.g. WordFly or Mailchimp)

Analytics (e.g. Google Analytics)

AI (e.g. ChatGPT or Copilot)

 

SKILLS

ESSENTIAL

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise tasks as directed as well as using own initiative
  • Excellent written communication in English
  • High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information
