About Us

Our small but mighty team is looking for a dynamic new member, who’s just as committed as we are to promoting and supporting the sounds and music of Aotearoa New Zealand! Through our website, digital channels, shop, library, films, podcasts, and many vibrant partnerships across the music industry, SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music | Toi te Arapūoru ensures the work of our country’s amazing composers and taonga puoro artists are heard, recorded, and celebrated!

About the role

The Marketing Manager | Kaiwhakahaere Whakatairanga works 20 hours per week, from SOUNZ HQ in the vibrant arts hub of Toi Pōneke on Abel Smith Street in Wellington, and supports SOUNZ to make noise in all the right ways and in all the right places! From campaign planning and implementation, to relationship-building and stakeholder engagement, general communications activities, and supporting the Chief Executive with reporting, you’ll help to promote the sounds and music of Aotearoa in collaboration with the SOUNZ team. With all the resources of our newly revamped website at your fingertips, and our supportive stakeholder network as the foundation for your work, you’ll be a critical support to our broad, inclusive, Te Tiriti-based mission and vision for New Zealand music.
The role is for a fixed term through the end of the year, contributing to SOUNZ’s strategic planning via stakeholder engagement processes. Salary midpoint: $75,000 FTE (pro rata).

About you

  • Your communication and copy-writing/editing skills are legendary
  • You know how to shape text to speak to a range of audiences (from a press release or article in an EDM right through to the TikTok crowd)
  • Digital tools are a go-to for your work
  • You’ve got a keen eye for visuals, and know how to tell a compelling story
  • Managing content calendars, writing reports, and collecting data are all second nature
  • You’re excited to apply your energy to promoting the work of New Zealand composers, ideally with good insights into the industry already
  • You’re proud about upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all you do
  • You love being a part of a collaborative and tight-knit team, but also have a high level of self-management
  • You’re organised and process-driven, but you also have a flexibility and creative flair (for those inevitable moments when plans change!)
