Nohonga Residencies 2026
Calling all Māori Performing Artists and Māori-led arts groups/companies locally and across across the motu to apply for our Nohonga Creative Residency at Te Pou Theatre.
This is our second annual Nohonga Programme, supported by Creative New Zealand, providing artists with creative development support to explore ideas and develop a new, bold and exciting performance based work. Residency support includes time, resources, space and this year travel costs for national artists, as well as the support of the Te Pou whānau.
There are two residencies available in 2026 for local and national Māori performing artists. These Nohonga are held in our Tāhū studio. They're a great opportunity for artists to workshop a new concept, refine a scripted work, trial a design concept or dream up a new performance based work. The key outcome of the residency is supporting the development of new whakaari and our Māori creative community.
Te Pou Theatre’s Nohonga Creative Residencies 2026 Available:
Nohonga 1 - Local artist/s (based in Tāmaki Makaurau)
Nohonga 2 - National artist/s (based outside of Tāmaki Makaurau)
