Once again the Wellington Sculpture Trust, in association with Wellington City Council, will hold
PARK(ing) Day on Saturday 1 March 2025.
Are you an artist, actor, performer? Do you have an issue you want to engage with the public about?
We’re looking for creative proposals for temporary installations to occupy inner-city car parks for one day. They should be accessible; enliven our cityscape; provoke reflection about how we use public space; and encourage interaction and engagement.
PARK(ing) Day’s mission is to generate debate around how public space is created and allocated, calling attention to the need for more urban open space and improving the quality of the urban human habitat…at least until the meter runs out!
Successful proposals will receive $500 towards costs, with two $500 awards for Judge's Choice and People's Choice winners.
Proposals due 17 January 2025.

Background
PARK(ing) Day is an annual open-source global event where citizens, artists and designers collaborate temporarily to transform metered parking spaces into “PARK(ing)” spaces or temporary public places. The original PARK(ing) Day concept was initiated by Rebar, www.rebargroup.org.
Wellington Sculpture Trust thanks Wellington City Council and the Arts & Culture and Creative Communities Funding schemes for supporting this event.
