Ko Tā mātou mahi | The role 

Our team of Practice Advisers are experts in their art form and/or practice, providing strategic advice on the direction of these arts practices, and independent specialist knowledge of these arts to support CNZ’s investment and strategic plans.  The Practice Advisers are a crucial part of the development of a sustainable and successful arts ecosystem within Aotearoa.

The key focus of the ngā toi Māori portfolio is to lead CNZ’s engagement with the ngā toi Māori sector, providing strategic advice to CNZ and the arts sector on the direction and development of ngā toi Māori both nationally and internationally, and providing specialist knowledge of ngā toi Māori to support CNZ’s investment and strategic plans for positive change.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring 

You’ll have extensive knowledge of arts practice trends in ngā toi Māori, as well as experience working within a Māori context.  You will be fluent in te reo Māori and be able to demonstrate cultural competency in te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

You’ll have excellent communication skills, with an affinity for building and maintaining relationships and you’ll have the willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally to attend sector events as necessary.  Demonstrable experience in providing high level strategic advice and recommendations leading to a direct impact on an organisation’s operations and processes is vital, while a qualification in an arts-related discipline, (or equivalent experience), is desirable experience leading projects with ringatoi Māori or in a Ngā Toi Māori organisation or for your marae is just as valued.
