Toi Whakaari is seeking an experienced student health and wellbeing professional for the role of Ringa Poipoi, Student Health and Wellbeing. The primary objective of this role is the care, well being, welfare and support of students as they progress through the kura.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to our Poukōkiri Mātauranga (Director of Academic) and Pouhāpai Ahurea (Director of People, Culture and Operations), the Ringa Poipoi, Student Health and Wellbeing, position will work to ensure the very best outcomes for students.

Your role will also include;

  • Pastoral care legislation - implementation of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021
  • Student care, promoting an inclusive and safe culture across the kura learning environment
  • Student wellbeing, developing an approach to maintain a strategic and transparent learner wellbeing and safety system for students that responds to their individual and diverse needs
  • Student support, providing and connecting students with access to networks across diverse communities, stakeholders and providers, referral pathways and escalation procedures
  • Awareness and promotion of safe health and mental health literacy, suicide and self-harm awareness, drug and alcohol awareness and healthy lifestyles for student
  • Advocate in student disciplinary issues
  • Administration

 

The Ringa Poipoi, Student Health and Wellbeing position works across the Toi Whakaari community, including leadership, staff and our students. 

This role is a permanent role with a start date of 15 January 2025 and we are looking at it being part time (0.8FTE) worked across Monday through Thursday. We are open to discussing this with the right candidate.

 

ABOUT YOU

Required

  • A demonstrated capacity for leadership and maturity 
  • An ability to respond to difficult or challenging situations in a calm and responsible manner while following appropriate procedures
  • Have empathy with the diverse issues faced by student
  • High level of creativity and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to interact with student of different cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • A wide cultural and social network
  • High level of cultural competency
  • Experience in relationship management
  • Experience in Tertiary Education

Preferred

  • Tertiary qualification in social services
