Five Residences for the Second Intake for 2025 at The Factory Theatre / Kete Aronui
Supported by Sky City Community Trust
What?
He Waka Eke Noa Charitable Trust is opening up submissions for the second intake of the 2025 The Factory Theatre Rangatahi Residency Programme to rangatahi-led creative groups or solo rangatahi performers. Rangatahi, for the purposes of the SkyCity Residencies, has been defined as those that are no longer in school through to the age of 34.
By reducing systemic barriers that face our young arts community through empowering and enabling rangatahi Māori and Pasifika arts practitioners, along with other often disenfranchised groups, irrespective of gender, sexuality or ethnicity, who will have equitable access to fit-for-purpose, safe and accessible facilities, to create and collaborate, explore genre and produce outcomes that see you and your communities reflected through your own stories and art. It doesn't have to result in a final performance, more-so be focussed on having a safe accessible space to explore an idea or concept with financial burden.
Why?
He Waka Eke Noa Charitable Trust was established to facilitate arts access and to inspire arts practitioners and audiences, irrespective of social, economic or geographic isolation.
Our Vision?
How?
Industry leaders will assess the applications and make the invitations for a chat.
When?
The second intake of residencies will take place in 2025 from July to November, and any presentation dates will be mutually agreed upon.
Applications are now open and close June 22nd. Those that make our shortlist will be invited to come in and have a chat with us, and look around the spaces. It’s important that the key creatives in your group attend this.
Great – what do I do now?
To apply: Go to this form for one of the 5 development residencies.
Don’t worry, it’s simple and straight forward and doesn’t involve you giving up your first born to us to proceed. We want you to engage and feel comfortable in the process. We’re not looking for how well you write prose, rather the idea itself and what you want to gain out of it.
Expressions of interest must be received by EoB Sunday, June 22nd for consideration by the end of the month.
So get to it.
