Image: Maquette of Modular Sculpture - bronze work by Chiara CorbellettoSculpture 2001 had its origins in the desire to commemorate the beginnings of the new millennium by adding significantly to public artworks in the
City of Auckland.
The 8 artists are: Chiara Corbelletto . John Edgar . Charlotte Fisher. Fred Graham . Christine Hellyar. Neil Miller. Louise Purvis. Greer Twiss.
This is the first artist initiated, artist-organized outdoor sculpture event in Auckland since the Sculpture Symposium of 1971 and the Stone Symposia of the 1980's.
In the last few years we have been working closely with the Auckland City Council. Our main sponsors are the P.A. Edmiston Trust and the Millennium
Subcommittee of the Lottery Grants Board.
We would like to thank our sponsors who have been supportive as the Project has progressed through the requirements for Public Art.
To mark the arrival of the sculptures the models are being exhibited at The Auckland War Memorial Museum from April - January 2005. They can be found on the mezzanine floor overlooking the cenotaph.
We hope you will enjoy visiting the museum to see these models. You will also be able to see them on the Museum website www.aucklandmuseum.com where there will also be images of the sculptures in progress.
