This multi award winning play follows the trials and tribulations of an amateur operatic society during the rehearsal period of "The Beggars Opera".Stumbling into an early rehearsal is a shy young widower called Guy (Adi Staite) who is quickly pounced upon with glee by Dafydd, the Welsh director (Rob Penington) and given a minor role in the show. Guy then rises through the ranks to become the star of the show.

Fancied by various women members of the cast with disillusioned marriages, he soon realises that the action on stage is nothing compared with the jealousy, suspicion and seduction that carries on when rehearsals are finished!

Guy isn't the only male to attract the ladies. Young Crispin (Simon Johnson) is the cause of much jealousy between Bridget and Linda, two of the younger women in the show, resulting in a fierce cat-fight.

The show includes many songs and choruses from John Gay's old masterpiece, sung by a very talented cast.

In 1988 "A Chorus of Disapproval" was made into a movie of the same name, starring Anthony Hopkins, Jeremy Irons, Richard Briers, and Prunella Scales.
