I am a singer/songwriter and was deeply affected by the tragic quake in Christchurch last month.  Within hours of the quake taking place I had written a powerful, motivational song arising out of this disaster.  "Help Is On The Way"  was written as a loving tribute to help Christchurch’s people.  A group of my fellow music students have volunteered to record and perform this socially and culturally important work over the next few weeks.

The lyrics were culled from public comments in the news, on tv, & social networking sites, etc and it also brings in our National Anthem.  In writing this song I aimed to offer more than the views of a single person, but to share the feeling with everyone, incorporating stories and thoughts of many people involved. The lyrics are the voice of the people!

I hope that the song will inspire not only the locals to take action and get together, but also to sensitize people around the globe and spread the word about the situation after the tragedy in Christchurch.

The song release will lead a campaign to help rebuild the city and encourage people to donate to the cause, participate, help and support in any way they can.

Every single effort can make a difference even a musical one.

As Contemporary Music students at NMIT, Nelson, we have the backing of our music tutors behind this project and the use of NMIT's facilities both for rehearsing and their brand new professional recording studio. However, it is a student driven project and we are all volunteering our time and efforts to make it come into fruition.

We will soon be releasing press releases to drive this project further and get the word out there. It is hoped that very soon, you’ll be hearing this beautiful, lyrical song on radio, television, live concerts, benefits, Facebook, YouTube, and other popular social networks.

We hope that Help Is On The Way will be an agent of change, an inspiration for fundraising, and a call to action.

We have published a facebook fanpage and are daily adding our latest rehearsals and the hope is that people will follow and support the development of this musical project from its early beginnings till is professional recording and release.

The Fanpage has been set up as a collaborative platform where we would like to see our 'fans/supporters' participating in the process of the development of this song by giving their opinions, advice, offering encouragement, and posting our page on their own profiles etc to send the word further.
