The Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Art Educators (ANZAAE) Conference 2011 will be held at the Waikato Institute of Technology, Hamilton, from July 20-22.

In 2011, the ANZAAE Conference will be held at the Waikato Institute of Technology, Hamilton, New Zealand from Wednesday 20th July to Friday 22nd July. An early registration and welcome event is planned for the early evening of Tuesday 19 July.

The Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Art Educators (ANZAAE) Conference 2011 will include national and international keynote speakers reflecting the sectors involved. These include: pre-primary, primary, intermediate, secondary and tertiary educators, plus participants from the museum and public gallery sectors. The schedule includes keynote papers, workshops, seminars, conference papers, studio sessions, discussion roundtables which will be streamed and clustered for these sectors. There will be opportunities to network, upskill and update academic and professional knowledge.

The selected themes are

Power
relations of discourse; pedagogy; critique and assessment; contests of categories; domains, values, and standards; inclusion; visual culture

Community
intersections; interactions and viewpoints; communities of practice and learning; questions of social media; partnerships and collaborations

Materiality
questions of practice and learning; technologies; media and embodiment; reflections and sharing of experience
