For many of New Zealand's famous writers such as Frank Sargeson, Keri Hulme, Maurice Shadbolt, Charlotte Grimshaw and C.K Stead, that's where it all started. They conquered the blank page and won the Bank of New Zealand's Katherine Mansfield Awards. The Awards are New Zealand's most prestigious short story awards, and they offer some great rewards, including kick starting your chances of becoming a famous New Zealand author.
Premier Award - (Published Writers) - $10,000
Novice Award - (Unpublished Writers) - $1,500
Young Writer's Award (Secondary School Students) - $1,500 for the student, $1,500 for the school plus a creative writing workshop with a NZ writer.
