For the 10th year running, Manukau welcomed its "crown jewel" event, the Cult Couture Fashion Awards Show, back for the Southside Arts Festival 2011.

The show, which was held on Saturday 15 October, celebrated all that is great about New Zealand, the iconic sights, sounds, monuments and even moments. The evening was a great success, with overwhelming feedback from designers and audience alike as they were taken on a journey by MC for the night, Tina Cross.

The Supreme Award was awarded to Lindah Lepou, from Mt Eden, Auckland, for the multi-facetted garment, Bushygaga, which was crafted from flax and unbleached calico. It's not the first time Lindah's garments have shone at Cult Couture; she was awarded the Supreme Award in 2009. Lindah also placed first for Obviously Organic category in this year's awards.

Other category winners were Lisa Li (On the Streets), Ofa Filoialii (Flight of Fantasy) Christopher Davis (Recycled Revolution), Kiri Nathan, (Formally Yours) and Kiri Nathan (Matrimonial Bliss).

Auckland's Deputy Mayor, Penny Hulse, said: "Cult Couture is a showcase of amazing creativity and talent. It shows the very best of dance, music and fashion, and the south as the cultural and artistic capital of New Zealand."

This year the adjudicating panel featured some of the country's fashion elite; Dan Ahwa, fashion editor Canvas magazine, Tina Moore, editor REMIX magazine, Ngahuia Williams, director of N Model Management and Francis Hooper, fashion designer at World.
