Congratulations to Kiwi actress Emily Barclay who has been named this year's Most Promising Newcomer at The British Independent Film Awards for her part in the movie In My Father's Den. Barclay has been working on a mini-TV series in Australia with the director of Australian indy hit Somersault Cate Shortland. The series is called The Silence and is about a police officer traumatized by a recent crime who is reassigned as a curator for a police photographic exhibition. She is also playing a teen mother who plots to kill her father in Suburban Mayhem. Both productions will preview in 2006.
