It's like the movement of the tectonic plates. Every now and then, there is a lashing out, a flash of violence. But the other side of dark, to my mind, is the primal dark, the fecund dark of the moment before dawn, the moment before new things are born, the deep earth, the dark night. In these silent places, still offered by my sometimes turbulent homeland, I find rest and peace." - Emma Pratt.
