An exhibition of small works on paper by MartinePotato Bairstow is showing at fashion concept store and gallery HuckGun in Wellington from 30 November.

"With these small works, I wanted to follow a fashion design process, as if to create a clothing collection," explains the artist.An exhibition of small works on paper by MartinePotato Bairstow is showing at fashion concept store and gallery HuckGun in Wellington from 30 November.

"With these small works, I wanted to follow a fashion design process, as if to create a clothing collection," explains the artist.The physical process for the works featured in
fabricate began with painting large abstract works on sized cotton printmaking paper. From these bolts of fabric she selected and cut small pieces.

Each piece was then customised, embellished or embroidered, with painting, printing or weaving, using various combinations of acrylic, ink, enamel, charcoal and gouache.

When: From 30 November through December 2007
Opening function is Friday 30 November, 5-7pm, all welcome.
