Wellington based contemporary jewellery designer, Suni Gibson exhibits her latest collection at Pixel Ink Gallery opening on Wednesday the 22nd of July at 5.30pm.

“Eye Value” is a new series of contemporary jewellery works by Gibson.

The exhibition examines the relevance of jewellery in contemporary consumer culture and its historic and existing use as a signifier of wealth and status.

“Through strategies of repetition, simulation, subtraction and illusion, the work challenges our relationship with luxury goods and the significance of jewellery in popular culture,” says Gibson.

The exhibition will feature jewellery pieces made from Stirling silver, gold plating, porcelain, resin, ebony and paint. A virtual 3D poster and installation will also be hung in the gallery.

Gibson describes her unique hand-crafted work as lush, engaging, resonant and accessible.

Her jewellery is carefully constructed using an array of traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques.

Pixel Ink Gallery director, Rosalind Clark said the exhibition of contemporary jewellery is a first for the gallery.

Audiences will be able to purchase and interact with the jewellery on display.
