Francis Potter has been working as a painter in Europe for several years now. He currently has a studio in Warsaw, Poland, in the Wola district, west if the river in the old Jewish Ghetto area. He finds this a source of continual inspiration as he is decendant from Polish / Jewish ancestory.

Potter has been working on a series of works while in Poland based on his South African and New Zealand heritages, combining these elements into a cultural fusion of a figurative expression of colour and dynamism,  sure to be refreshing and new to an Eastern European audience.

After finishing with a MFA in painting from Elam, Auckland University in 1999, Potter went on to exhibit several times at different galleries and events in the UK and New Zealand, before his current relationship with Sygnatura Gallery in Warsaw, Poland.

Dawid Lekszycki, co-founder of the Gallery is very excited about the prospects of having a New Zealand artist in the Gallery, stating that it is very rare and unusual for Poland to have art from New Zealand represented, particularly in a dealer gallery. Sygnatura Gallery is situated in the Praga district of Warsaw and is well established as an arts enclave with numerous galleries and theatres opening over the last several years.

The Exhibition opens this Saturday the 7th of November, and is sure to be a successful event with live music, performance art and a party till late.
