Out of space Marae by George Nuku is to be part of the Pasifka Styles exhibition to be held in May 2006 at Cambridge University, UK. The artist describes the marae as "a carved wharenui from clear perspex, engaging in a conversation with the light and allowing light to reach all corners of the house; to suggest that perspex is as real as anything else, ie., totara, and to exercise this whakaaro as freely and naturally as breathing. Furthermore to put the mass production of Maori carving out of pounamu etc into a form of perspective implying that these ancient forms and materials are supposed to be rare and precious."
