Help artist Tanya Ruka attend the 2011 Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival from April 22-25, dedicated to the indomitable spirit of indigenous woman. She has produced a series of text based digital design prints, designed so that if the buyer wants to purchase more than one a pattern starts to form.

Tanya has recently been invited to run a workshop as part of Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival 2011 from April 22-25, hosted by Indigenous Film Archive. NIIFF 2011 is dedicated to the indomitable spirit of indigenous woman, and the series of events aim to bring out the sensitivities, strengths, skills, knowledge and wisdom that enable indigenous woman to play a key role in holding societies and communities together. Tanya has been invited to host a workshop showcasing her film practice, working together with film makers, photographers and artists of Kathmandu, as well as students from the local art schools to collaboratively produce something over the four day period.

To assist Tanya and her family to pay for the airfares, she has produced a series of text based digital design prints at $50 each, of which she needs to sell 150 to cover the airfares. If you would like to purchase one or a group, please contact Tanya by email tanya.ruka@yahoo.co.nz .  For more information visit Tanya's blog http://tanyaruka.blogspot.com/.

Tanya hosted White Night at the Pah Homestead with her moving image installation 'Tawhirimatea - God of the Winds'.  The event was an ethereal experience, with the mood in the Pah unusually introspective compared to the usual daily hustle and bustle.   Projected onto the sculpture garden, the patterns shimmered on the trees and created stark lines on the sculptures and dancers from Etched Productions, all the while accompanied by the eerie sound of wind and the improvisation of guest musicians.
