Penny Ashton has been a very busy little poetess in the past few years clocking up not only 2 Billy T James Award nominations, but also a 2002 Best Female Comedienne Nomination. In 2003 she was a member of the victorious New Zealand team at the Improvaganza Masters of the Universe Theatresports tournament in Canada and also performed comedy and poetry gigs in Seattle, Vancouver and Montreal. Her weekly column on the Xtra website has over 2000 readers a week (Hot Pink on Xtra) and she recently interviewed Comedy Poetry Legend Pam Ayres for a leading publication. Penny is a regular book reviewer on National Radio, a voice over artist and an actor whose credits include a short stint as a gynaecologist on Shortland St, Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night's Dream and as a witch in Margaret-Mary Hollins' acclaimed 2003 Macbeth. Penny has performed her previous solo show Hot Pink at Arts Festivals throughout New Zealand and will tour it to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival later on this year.
