The latest offering at TheNewDowse’s monthly Late Lounge event is an evening of musical genius with Rosy Tin Teacaddy.
Rosy Tin Teacaddy is a Wellington-based two-piece indie folk ensemble featuring songsters Billy Earl (aka Andy Hummel of The Woolshed Sessions) and Betty Grey (aka Holly Jane Ewens). These two song writers hide behind their tea names and have a personal chemistry in their harmonies which results in songs which are clever, cute and quirk.
Rosy Tin Teacaddy’s music has generous amounts of guitar, bass, lap steel and piano, enriched by cello, flute and accordion, to make you slap your knee or inspire you to waltz. The group has played with many well known musicians and has recently released their album The Homeward Stretch recorded in Lee Prebble’s acclaimed studio, The Surgery.
There are lots of food references in their music, so TheNewDowse will be offering wine, juice and beer, as well as a range of lovely teas for you to enjoy. So welcome spring this month by joining us at TheNewDowse and imagine you are already lying in a hammock at the bach!
“Alternative country, very lovely, folky, small, enchanting, meandering. It’s literally like fresh air – that smallness is just grand!” Manu Taylor, Radio NZ
