Auckland Mandolinata Orchestra led by Bryan Holden (a professional musician well known in Auckland) comprises  a unique blend of instruments.  Mandolins, Mandolas, Mandocello and Mandolon (bass) supported by guitars, accordion, flute and contra bass blend in a truly magical way.  Professional and amateur players perform with an expertise that is well regarded on the music scene internationally.

The orchestra was formed in 1969 by Doris Flameling a new arrival from the Netherlands who had vast experience of  such orchestras in her homeland.   Doris taught and formed the orchestra which over the years has grown into a group of talented musicians unique in New Zealand.

Although the mandolin is well known among folk and country musicians, Mandolinata has a very different way of producing a lovely sound.   The repertoire contains many ethnic melodies from Russia, Greece, Italy and the Balkans as well as well-known jazz, modern and light classical pieces.

Come and enjoy music for all the family: from classical baroque through traditional European tunes, Latin American dances, modern compositions, jazz and blues.
