Due to popular demand, Massive Company’s Artistic Director, Sam Scott,

is returning to Wellington in August to continue working with Wellington teachers.

‘Approaches to Devising Theatre – Part 2’ is a professional development workshop suitable for both new participants and those practitioners who have experienced Massive Company work. The workshop will enable previous participants to continue to develop their skills whilst giving new participants a fantastic introduction to making devised theatre with Massive Company. The workshop is open to all performing arts teachers and professional practitioners.

The workshop will explore:

• Physical warm up exercises used by Massive Company to discover and develop complicite/ the art of play and performance
• Insight into the reasoning and philosophy behind the work of Massive Company
• Techniques to encourage ensemble building, focus, active listening and stylised physical exploration
• Approaches to creating new theatrical material from stories, experiences, ideas, themes etc

Extra info:

•  Participants are invited to arrive between 9:00am-9:15am for tea/ coffee and introduction to the work
• Sam Scott will be available to further discuss the work/ answer questions/ queries after the workshop
• All practitioners who take part in the workshop will receive a Massive Company certificate of participation
