2022 CLNZ Contestable Fund Recipients Announced
Congratulations to the successful recipients of the 2022 Contestable Fund Grants, with a total of $73,000 granted.

Copyright Licensing New Zealand (CLNZ) are excited to announce the successful recipients in this year's round of CLNZ Contestable Fund Grants. Applications were invited for projects that had clearly defined and measurable outcomes that align with the Cultural Fund's objectives.

There were a total of 38 applications received, covering a wide range of topics and subjects, with funding contributions made towards the following 11 projects, totalling $73,000. Congratulations to the following recipients:

    Research and development for New Zealand non-fiction book (sequel to ‘Grow') $6,000

    About Us: 25 adventurers, artists and activists who link to Aotearoa’s Deaf and disability history $10,000
  • Wildling Books
    Healthy Ways to Release Emotions $5,000

The selection panel commented that it was great to see such a broad range of applications for exciting projects that promote and support literature targeting diverse audiences. This year's applicants were highly creative with a wide diversity amongst the projects.

The Contestable Fund is part of CLNZ’s Cultural Fund, which derives revenue from CLNZ’s licensing activity in New Zealand. Other grants and awards made from this fund include the CLNZ/NZSA Writers' Award, NZSA/CLNZ Research Grants and tertiary scholarships for creative writing students. Revenue generated through the licensed copying of copyright material is helping to fund the creation of new work.
