Hard working Wellington rockers Mercury Crowe are throwing a party to celebrate the release of Kiss Me Or Kill Me a stomping rock ‘n’ roll single and video about falling in lust on a one way street.
The new song came along almost as an after thought when Mercury Crowe was at the end of writing and recording seven new demos in 2009. Excited by a memorable and unforgettable guitar hook the band put the Kiss Me or Kill Me demo together within a week, a new record-breaking time for Mercury Crowe. The tune is available on iTunes this November and the band play Bodega, Wellington this Friday 5th November and Juice Bar, Auckland on Friday 12th November to honour the release.
Founded in 2005 Mercury Crowe features rockers Allan Mansfield – Vocals, guitars, songs, Hamish McKoy – Guitars, vocals, songs, Rowan Clark – Bass, vocals, keys, songs and Nick George – Drums, vocals, songs.
Together they’ve cut their teeth playing a solid two-year residency at the Cavern Club in Wellington an early rock & roll bar with connotations to the famed Liverpool Cavern Club. The club space has allowed Mercury Crowe to define their classic rock sound that is unashamedly influenced by the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Oasis, The Black Crowes and Ryan Adams.
“We admire artists whose songs were not only influential to modern music, but have a clever simplicity to them which has stood the test of time” drummer Nick George said.
The video for Kiss Me or Kill Me was directed by award winning MoFresh Productions from Auckland. Starring Auckland based model Rosie Herdman with the band in full flight, the video captures the strong pace and energy of the song while playing on the emotive and primal undertone of lust.
