Art series which showcases talented New Zealand artists from a wide range of disciplines. Lisa Reihana is one of the most respected contemporary artists of her generation. Take a look at her latest project, Digital Marae.

'Kete Aronui Experience' Artist of the Week:

Jamie Boynton (BDes) - Ngai Tuhoe, Te Whakatohea

Jamie began his career as an Illustrator/Graphic Designer in Wellington, during which time he contributed artworks to various exhibitions within the Wellington region. In 2001 he returned home to his roots and now resides in the Eastern Bay of Plenty where he is working as a Fine Artist.

Through these years he has proactively sought opportunities to contribute to positive initiatives, utilising his artistic skills, to create opportunities for Maori, and in particular Maori youth. Jamie has worked as lead designer for a number of high profile social marketing campaigns, including the development of the ‘Te Mana’ brand, and the promotion of Auahi Kore (Smokefree). Locally he has created and delivered artistic workshops to schools and created a series of learning resources for schools.

Jamie has since exhibited in a number of locations throughout New Zealand and is currently working on a series of new works for his next solo exhibition titled "Mauri Ora Breath of Life". He has recently received a grant from Creative New Zealand to support the creation of this new series, which he intends to tour nationally and internationally.

Education:
Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications Design (Victoria University)

Recent Awards:
Highly Commended 2009 Molly Morpeth Canaday Art Award for painting and drawing.
Merit Award at the 2008 Combined Bay of Plenty Art Societies Exhibition.
National Merit Award at the 2008 Fibre & Fleece Exhibition.
