The Royal New Zealand Ballet is delighted to announce the appointment of two new trustees to the company’s Board.  Christchurch based Ros Burdon and Wellington based Steven Fyfe’s appointment coincides with the opening of the RNZB’s The TOWER Season of Cinderella.

“Ros and Steven have both excelled in their fields and we welcome their knowledge and experience.  We are very lucky to have them join our board,“ says Board Chairperson, Candis Craven.

Ros Burdon is a benefactor and patron of the arts and recognised as one of Christchurch’s most influential figures in this sector.  Ros was chair of the Arts Foundation of New Zealand, a national private trust that supports excellence in the arts, from December 2005 until December 2010. She was also the founding chair of the Christchurch Arts Festival and prominent in raising funds for the Christchurch Art Gallery. In 2002, Ros was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) for services to arts and the community.

Steven Fyfe has a strong background in the financial sector and until early 2011 was Deputy Chief Executive of the ANZ National Bank.  After graduating from Victoria University, Steven built his career first at Coopers and Lybrand, then Southpac Corporation before joining the National Bank.  He is now involved in a range of community, governance and consulting activities.  Steven is also on the Board of Cricket Wellington and was closely involved with the National Bank's sponsorship of New Zealand cricket.

Ms Burdon and Mr Fyfe are ballet enthusiasts and are both looking forward to joining the company for the opening of the TOWER Season of Cinderella in Wellington this Thursday 2 August, before the production tours to six other centres.

Lawyer Jane Meares who has been a trustee since 2006 is stepping down from the board after an amazing six years with the RNZB, and she will continue to be actively involved with company.
