Judges Christopher Johnstone and Di Smallfield have selected 83 artworks from over 200 submitted entries for exhibition at the 18th annual North Shore City Art Awards.
Final selections for awards begin on 15 October.

The concept for 2007 awards was New Zealand's cultural identity.Judges Christopher Johnstone and Di Smallfield have selected 83 artworks from over 200 submitted entries for exhibition at the 18th annual North Shore City Art Awards.

The concept for 2007 awards was New Zealand's cultural identity.Last years winner 'Sausage Sizzle' by Mikki Clarke addressed notions of the great kiwi pastime of grassroots fundraising.

Earth Wind and Sky is the subject for this years awards, the intention of this theme is to provide artists with the opportunity to reveal new experiences of places and moments.

The Awards evening will be opened by North Shore City's Mayor Andrew Williams who will announce and present the winner with this years North Shore City Council Premier Award earning the recipient $4,000 in prize money.

Other prizes include $1000 Runner Up -Gordon Harris the Art & Graphic Store, Merit Awards of $500 from Comworth Systems, the Laurie Coons Foundation and Factory Frames. Bunnings Warehouse are offering a Peoples choice Award of $300 and the NZ Arts Guild subscriptions.
The principle sponsor for this exhibition is the North Shore City Council.
