New Zealand director Valerie Reid has scooped another major international prize with her short documentary Sand Dancer winning Best Documentary at
its first USA screening, The Foursite Film Festival in Utah. New Zealand director Valerie Reid has scooped another major international prize with her short documentary Sand Dancer winning Best Documentary at
its first USA screening, The Foursite Film Festival in Utah.Sand Dancer has also been selected to screen at New York's prestigious Tribeca Film Festival, which was established by Robert De Niro. Past winners include director Martin Scorsese.

Over 4,700 films are submitted from which 200 are selected to screen. Sand Dancer is the only New Zeland film selected.

The following awards have gone to Sand Dancer in the past 5 months: Winner Audience Choice Award at Golden Horse International Short Film Competition, Taipei, November 2006; Winner Best Documentary Award at MAGMA International Shorts Festival, NZ, November 2006; Winner Best Documentary at Foursite International Film Festival, Utah, USA, March 2007; Finalist Nominee for Best Culture and Environmental Film Award at Wet West International Film Festival, NZ, January 2007.
