Pacific poet and writer Professor Albert Wendt has received the country's highest Queen’s Birthday Honour - membership of the Order of New Zealand.

Pacific poet and writer Professor Albert Wendt has received the country's highest Queen’s Birthday Honour - membership of the Order of New Zealand.

Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit appointments were made to Hamish Keith for services to the arts, Deirdre Tarrant for services to contemporary dance and Peter Biggs was recognised for services to arts governance and philanthropy.

Below is the list of creative New Zealanders who received a Queen’s Birthday Honour.

Services to arts, design, Maori arts, performing arts, music, film, theatre, dance, fashion and publishing were recognised.

The Order of New Zealand

ONZ - To be a Member of the said Order:

Emeritus Professor Albert Wendt, CNZM, of Auckland. For services to New Zealand.

Mr Peter Ronald Francis Biggs, of Melbourne, Australia. For services to arts governance and philanthropy.

Mr Hamish Henry Cordy Keith, OBE, of Auckland. For services to the arts.

Ms Deirdre Elizabeth Anne Tarrant, MNZM, of Wellington. For services to contemporary dance.
