Richard Driver has joined Alex Lee and Dan Shanan as a Trustee of the Documentary NZ Trust.

The Documentary NZ Trust is pleased to announce that Richard Driver has joined Alex Lee and Dan Shanan as a Trustee of the Documentary NZ Trust. The Trust is a not-for-profit organization that organizes the annual Documentary Edge Festival and other associated documentary industry activities.

Most recently, Richard developed the extremely successful Documentary Channel, which he sold to BBC and renamed BBC Knowledge. Richard started in TV as the host of Radio with Pictures - but it is behind the scenes that the former lead singer (Pop Mechanix) has made a career. His first foray into directing was the documentary Hokonui Todd; and he ran his own production company, Visionary TV, creating programmes like Give it a Whirl and the award winning Love, Speed and Loss.

“Richard’s passion for story-telling and documentaries matches the Trust’s aspirations. He will bring a fresh business perspective to the Documentary NZ Trust.” says Alex Lee, director of Documentary NZ Trust.

“I look forward to helping the Documentary NZ Trust meet its mission of promoting and supporting documentary filmmaking as well as creating opportunities for NZ audiences to see a wide and diverse range of local and international documentaries” says Richard Driver.
