Christmas is in danger again! But Mairangi Players are here to help.
Tammy Webster and Olivia Bloxham, local teen-age playwrights, have written the club’s annual Christmas play. The show is being directed by Ross Anderson and Sean Miller, and features youth from all over the shore in major roles.
Following in what has become a club tradition, the play revolves around much-loved favourites like Santa and Mrs Claus, who get into a spot of bother, and need help from the audience to save Christmas!
Ronald is Santa’s right-hand-elf - he works for Santa 364 days a year and loves it. What he doesn’t love is that Santa takes all the credit for the things Ronald does and Santa can’t even remember Ronald’s name!
Ronald gets some advice from a lawyer with a motive of her own, and now he’s suing Santa for the mistreatment of magical creatures. If Santa is found guilty it will be the end of his operations and Christmas presents!
The season runs from Friday the 11th to Saturday the 19th December at TheatreWorks, Recreation Drive in Birkenhead. Performances are at 7pm on weeknights and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Please note that there is no show on Monday the 14th. Tickets are $12 (adults at kids prices!), and can be booked by phoning 419-0415. Bookings are essential, as our end-of-year productions often sellout quickly!
Please note that the theatre is not equipped with an EFTPOS facility.
