"Supporting emerging players has long been a passion for the Manukau City Symphony Orchestra", says Mrs Terry Spragg, Chair of the Manukau City Orchestral Society. â"The MCSO Scholarships are a fantastic opportunity for young musicians to gain financial support and performance places with the orchestra. The first prize winner receives the $2000 Manukau City Symphony Orchestra Scholarship, plus the chance to be billed as a solo performer in a Manukau City Symphony Orchestra concert in 2009."
Papatoetoe residents Phil and Helen Greenbank have founded the $1,000 Greenbank Scholarship. "Since being invited to attend the MCSO concerts on behalf of the ASB Community Trust, I have felt a part of the orchestra which is truly part of Manukau City" says Mr Greenbank. The Botany Community Board is also proud to support young Botany residents with their Botany Community Board Scholarship of $1,000. And there are two $600 Eleanor Spragg Scholarships.
