Silo Theatre is proud to present a new generation of exceptional NZ actors, starring in two short theatre works directed by Michael Hurst and Oliver Driver for the AK07 season of The Ensemble Project. The Ensemble Project is set to make some of the most visceral theatre of 2007, inspiring young actors to aim high and set their sights on being the next Mia Blake, Craig Hall or Claire Chitham.

Silo Theatre presents THE ENSEMBLE PROJECT Silo Theatre is renowned for its discovery and investment in some of the country's finest young actors. It was within the walls of this boutique city theatre that the likes of Mia Blake, David Van Horn, Michelle Langstone, Aidee Walker, Kip Chapman, Toni Potter, Hannah Tolich, Claire Chitham and Craig Hall all developed and showcased their outstanding capabilities in performance.

Acknowledging the impact that this valuable experience has had on the NZ arts industry, Silo Theatre has again plunged into an open audition process to find the 12 most promising, talented and committed young actors that NZ has to offer. Paying no heed to gender, ethnicity or sexuality these actors will be chosen purely on their talent. The lucky dozen will be cast in two short works directed by theatre luminaries Oliver Driver and Michael Hurst.

HAND MADE, directed by Oliver Driver, is a devised work based on Auckland City and its diverse and rich cultural tapestry. Actors will bring their own unique stories to create this matrix of urban life. Driver is well-versed in the presentation of engaging devised theatre, having helmed two successful productions - Play 2 and The Atrocity.

Themes of seduction, honour and revenge will be rife in the second offering, EXCAVATED CLASSIC, for which director Michael Hurst will select a classic text best suited to the skills of the actors chosen to participate in this exciting ensemble project.

By combining youth and experience, ambition and genius, and a benchmark of professional excellence, THE ENSEMBLE PROJECT is set to make some of the most visceral theatre of 2007, inspiring young actors to aim high and set their sights on being the next Mia Blake, Craig Hall or Claire Chitham.
