Each tale gives us privileged access to the innermost thoughts of an individual, who, although we only hear his/her side of the story, frequently reveals more about him/herself than intended. Each tale gives us privileged access to the innermost thoughts of an individual, who, although we only hear his/her side of the story, frequently reveals more about him/herself than intended.The stories are poignant, funny, sometimes sad, occasionally uplifting, and they all showcase Alan Bennett's powers of observation, comic timing and exquisite turn of phrase.
The pieces in the MSM show are "A Lady of Letters", in which a busybody pays a price for interfering in her neighbour's life; "A Chip in the Sugar", wherein a man's life begins to unravel when he discovers his aging mother has rekindled an old flame; and "Bed Among the Lentils", in which a vicar's wife discovers a semblance of happiness in an Indian shop owner.
This acclaimed show features Max Golding, Sue Golding, and Maxine Burgham-Page, three of Auckland's most experienced and respected actors.
Talking Heads is in addition to Dolphin Theatre's normal programme, and is a FUND RAISING event for planned extensions to the theatre.
