The Original Art Sale continues to differ from other art events, this year with a ‘resident artist’ - award winning artist Fane Flaws will be at the event exhibiting and selling his artwork and will be available during the show to talk to visitors. Fane Flaws has spent the last thirty years working in a variety of media. He has worked as a graphic designer, painter, songwriter, director of Music Videos, Short Films, TVC’s, and writer, illustrator and publisher of Children’s Literature. Among his accolades has collected over 40 awards for directing including Best Video – Max TV Music Awards - for The Mutton Birds – ‘The Heater’ and Gold for Best Humour’ ‘93 London International Advertising Awards. He now concentrates on being an artist and frequently sells his artwork at major exhibitions throughout New Zealand.
The Original Art Sale kicks off with the Gala Charity Preview Evening on Thursday 25 June, a first look and opportunity to purchase art prior to the first sale day on 26 June. The Maori Television Matariki Award will be presented at the Gala Evening; there will also be live art by Marcus Winter, music, nibbles and refreshments. Proceeds from ticket sales go to Kidz First Children’s Hospital.
Visitors to the Art Sale will witness Live Art created before their eyes, artist Marcus Winter will be a feature of the Gala Evening and at times during the sale days creating original artworks rapidly in front of the audience using only a paintbrush and canvas.
