The Six O'Clock Swill is a monthly series of one-act plays held at Mighty Mighty on Cuba Street in Wellington.November brings the premiere of a new NZ work by Paul Rothwell (Golden Boys, Hate Crimes and Deliver Us).
In Office Palms a nervous and confused job seeker applies for a position in a small but close-knit workplace. His potential employers are overbearing and ominous and the photocopier is surprisingly fast. Everyone is slightly distracted - the woman in her quest for a machine-run workspace, the man waiting for his urgent message and the receptionist with her cigarettes and dreams of holidays in the tropics.
Office Palms is an awkward and entertaining look at workplace dynamics and politics with a slight tinge of absurdism thrown in.

Our international piece is Intervention by American writer Jeff Whitty, Tony Award winner for the musical Avenue Q.
Friends - where would you be without them? How did they get to be your friends in the first place? This comedy is very New York where your pals can be worn like an accessory. Here, they can stuff up and we don't care. Right? Intervention is about this and so much more.
