Issue two of Viewfinder, the magazine for people who enjoy making videos, docos and home movies is out this week.

Our launch issue was an absolute storm being the country's only magazine made by, for and featuring Kiwis and their movies. And our second offering is just the ticket.

We know that many people like to make movies that involve interviewing people. Sometimes they are members of the family, where old memories are captured for future generations. But often they are people we may only have access to for a short time. In  issue 2 we explore what it takes to carry out a good on-camera  interview so you get the footage you need – it’s journalism 101.

Dick Reade has written a very interesting feature on Foley. And it is not just about adding sound effects to your productions, Foley goes much deeper than the obvious and includes dialogue and sounds you may never have given a second thought to.

Camera operator Gary Foster discusses the different angles you can shoot from and what can be achieved by looking at scenes from different perspectives. Time to take the camera off your shoulder, off the tripod and start experimenting.

If you have ever completed a shoot only to discover the footage is tainted because of a hum or buzz on the audio track, then we have the answer for you. In Viewfinder issue 2, we take you through a step-by-step guide to removing unwanted noise using a free program that runs on any computer (and available from Viewfinder's Free Stuff page).

Stills photographer Robert van de Voort joins us with a feature on shooting during the golden hour – something that will be of interest to dSLR owners as well as video camera owners.

We interview professional photographer Simon Baker who is now using his dSLRs to shoot HD video and meet Bro’Town animator Matthew Wilson who talks about making Real ‘N Raw, his first live action documentary (which may just get you thinking abut what you eat).

We also have a feature on how to use make-up and there’s part 2 of our special feature on videoing weddings plus loads more news, the Gear Guide and information for videomakers having fun at any level.

Feedback from readers on issue one of ViewFinder has been overwhelmingly positive – so a big thank you to our readers, thank you to our wonderful band of writers who have been so enthusiastic in sharing their knowledge and of course many thanks to our advertisers.
