If you’re a creative professional ready to go it alone, there are a whole lot of freelancing conundrums we can help solve, including your market rate.
It’s time for some reflection. (Everyone’s different so we don’t want to simply throw numbers at you.)
What skills do you have? Are you a junior, intermediate or senior creative?
How good and up-to-date is your portfolio? Do you have any specialist skills in short supply? Have you won any industry awards? These are all factors in calculating your true market rate.
This figure should not be set in stone, however. Sure, set a minimum rate you won’t go below but be flexible too.
One of the skills of being a good freelancer is gauging what a client can afford, so always have an hour, day and week rate up your sleeve when budgets are tight.
