The queen of New Zealand poetry, Tusiata Avia, is the feature poet at the SUP Open Mic at Youthline Manukau next Wednesday.
Tusiata has recently returned from New York, where the stage adaptation of her book, Wild Dogs Under My Skirt was playing off-Broadway. She’s published three amazing books of poetry, won numerous awards and performed all over the world.

Mexico based, New Zealand born writer Ruby Brunton, daughter of poet Alan Brunton, is coming home for a show at Strange Goods. Well, she probably isn’t flying halfway around the world to do one show but nonetheless it’s happening. She’s going to be joined by a stellar lineup of artists, including two of my favourite NZ writers; Vanessa Crofskey and Catarina De Peters Leitão.

Lastly, Stand By Me is playing at Hollywood Avondale next Sunday! Come relive your childhood or if you're too young for that to be a factor, do yourself a favour and experience this 80’s classic.. The movie is based on a Stephen King Short novella and features a young River Phoenix and one of the Corey’s (I can never remember which one is which).
