Toi Whakataa is a Maori print collective consisting of a group of artists sharing ideas and knowledge. They work together to support the medium of print and display refreshing new artworks that challenge contemporary thinking in the realms of Maori art.Toi Whakataa is a Maori print collective consisting of a group of artists sharing ideas and knowledge. They work together to support the medium of print and display refreshing new artworks that challenge contemporary thinking in the realms of Maori art.The group try to catch up at least twice a year for a Hui and a kai and all members are committed and supportive of the direction and the vision of Toi Whakataa.

The group is diverse and most of the artists have multi-discipline practice combining carving, weaving, painting and installation.

Artists whose work is included in this exhibition, Sowing the Seed, include Gabrielle Bels, Alexis Neal, Vanessa Edwards, Sam Farquhar, Simon Kaan and Ruth Green Cole.
