A most exciting and stimulating opportunity.

The Wallace Arts Trust is seeking a Receptionist/Assistant Administrator for the very impressive, new TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre at the Pah Homestead.

The Centre will be a free Public Art Gallery and the home of the James Wallace Arts Trust and its Collection. Visitors to the Centre will range from members of the public wanting to view exhibitions curated from one of the finest Art Collections in the Country to those wishing to see the restored Homestead itself, a luxurious 19th Century Italianate mansion which has never been open to the public. Other visitors will include VIPs and artists together with those coming to cultural and/or hospitality functions.

Key responsibilities will include being the first point of contact for all visitors to the Centre. An impeccable phone manner and presentation and an ability to provide assistance and information where possible will be essential as will be the ability to effectively support the Centre’s administrative staff and act as an interface between them and the Centre’s volunteers and/or gallery attendants.

Proficiency and experience in the arts and reception duties would be an advantage. Essential prerequisites would be excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as being fully computer literate. The successful applicant must be adaptable and flexible as well as being able to cope with a range of other day to day and occasional duties.

The Arts Centre will be open Tuesday to Friday 10 am – 4pm and Weekends 11am – 5pm. While hours will amount to 40 hours a week there will be a degree of rostering with other staff and volunteers so the successful applicant’s availability must be elastic.
